Recreational Sports Policies
Rec Center Policies
1. Patrons are only allowed in the facility during normal operating hours.
2.All patrons must swipe their NGCSU I.D. card at the gate upon entering the facility. Only valid patrons with proper ID Card are allowed in the Rec Center. NO EXCEPTIONS.
3. Individuals under the age of 15 are not permitted to enter the Recreation Center. Individuals under 18 years of age must be directly supervised by their parent member.
4. Rec Center Staff shall monitor overall facility conduct and use of equipment including the sound system, televisions, and thermostat.
5. All bags and personal items must be kept on the designated areas and may not be carried around the facility. Neither the Department of Recreational Sports nor the staff are responsible for lost or stolen items. Patrons should report missing items to the respective facility supervisor as soon as the items are noticed missing.
6. Day-use lockers are available for use, but contents and locks must be removed on a daily basis. Locks will be cut and lockers will be cleared at the end of each day.
7. No food, drinks, or chewing gum are permitted in the Rec Center. The only exception is water or sports drinks in a sealed container or bottle. Water fountains are available in the facility.
8. Bikes/Skateboards/roller-skates/roller-blades are prohibited from the building.
9. Animals are not permitted in the facility, except for trained service animals.
10. Patrons must follow all Rec Center policies and demonstrate courtesy towards others in the facility at all times.
11. Respect for equipment, facilities, and staff must be demonstrated at all times.
Fitness Area Policies
1. Proper workout attire is required. NO STREET CLOTHES ARE ALLOWED. No denim clothes or skirts allowed. No apparel with rivets or other decorations that may tear upholstery may be worn.
2. Shoes must have a rubber sole and must be laced and closed-toe. No boots or sandals allowed.
3. Shirts are required and must cover the mid-drift (no sports bras).
4. It is recommended that all patrons bring a clean towel to wipe down benches, upholstery, machines, and cardiovascular equipment after each use. Gym Wipes are provided for patrons to wipe down equipment after use.
5. There is a 30 minute limit on cardio equipment if people are waiting.
6. Bars, weights, and dumbbells must be returned to the proper plate holders or rack after each use.
7. Slamming or dropping dumbbells or weight stacks is strictly prohibited.
8. No equipment shall leave the facility at any time unless prior approval has been obtained by the Recreational Sports Office.
9. SPOTTERS must be utilized when necessary on all free weight equipment.
10. WEIGHT COLLARS must be used on all bars at all times.
11. Immediately report any injury or equipment irregularity to the staff member(s) on duty.
12. Rec Center staff is available to assist patrons with the operation of equipment that is unfamiliar in order to prevent injury from improper usage.
Gymnasium Area Policies
1. No Dunking on the Goals is allowed during open recreational play.
2.Players must wear tennis shoes on the courts.
3. Courts are available for use on a first come first serve basis. Scheduled events will be posted, so patrons will be aware of times when usage will be limited.
4. Shirts must be worn at all times.
Posting Restrictions and Guidelines

Nothing may be posted in the Rec Center on any surface that is not an approved posting area, including, trash cans, walls, railings, bathroom stalls, benches, staircases, windows, doors, newspaper boxes, bulletin boards, etc.

The Rec Center Staff Associate will post all signs to the designated posting areas.
- Bulletin Board Postings:
- Subject to approval by Rec Center Staff
- Must be no larger than 11in x 17in (may be asked for smaller size if space is limited
- Gym Railing Postings:
- Subject to approval by Rec Center Staff
- Must be no larger than 3ft vertically & 6ft horizontally
- Must have clear, neat writing
- Recommended to plan sign with Rec Center Staff Associate before construction
- Must be for an event

Commercial advertising is not permitted in the Rec Center without special approval.

Posters must advertise an event sponsored by a Registered Student Organization, NGCSU Department, or U.S. Government Organization.

The name of the sponsoring organization or department MUST appear on each poster. “Teaser” advertisements may be used, but the sponsoring organization must be identified on the fliers. Teasers are defined as ads which give little information except an eye-catching slogan or logo, which will be replaced later by a more informational ad.

If the flyer is printed in a language other than English, English subtitles must be listed to identify the name of the organization, the subject of the flyer, and the time and place of the event.

Advertisements may not promote alcohol in any form on campus. If an event occurs off campus, no references may be made to alcohol in any form, including drink prices or drink specials.

Bulletin boards are overseen by the Rec Sports Staff Associate. Boards that are specified for use by certain programs or departments are not available for general posting.

Flyers will be posted for up to 14 days on bulletin boards, and will be removed the day after the advertised event. Only one flier per organization is permitted on the bulletin board. Posters advertising past events may be removed to make room for current posters.

Events occurring at off campus, private establishments must feature the name of the sponsoring student organization in a significantly larger font size than the name or logo of the venue.

Each item will have a date stamped on it, representing approval for it to be posted as well as an indication of when it will be removed from the board.
