REGENTS' TESTING PROGRAM OVERVIEW
(In a Nutshell!)
EFFECTIVE SUMMER 2008

All students planning to graduate from a University System of Georgia school are required to pass the Regents' Test. ALL students (TRANSFER and incoming freshmen) who have not exempted the Regents' test requirements (see exemptions below), MUST register and sit for the Regents' Test during their first semester of attendance. There are consequences to not taking the test during your first semester AND there can be consequences to not passing the test during your first semester.

•  TRANSFER Students: Transfer students who do not take or pass the Regents' Test in their FIRST semester will be administratively enrolled in the Regents' Skills course(s) in their second semester.

•  INCOMING FRESHMEN: Incoming freshmen who score 50 or lower on the Reading Test in their FIRST semester will be administratively enrolled in the Regents' Skills course in their second semester. 61 is a passing score on the Reading Test.

In addition to A and B, two unsuccessful attempts at passing the Regents' Test places you in the Regents' Skills course(s) and you must complete the course(s) to be considered eligible to take the test again. An unsuccessful attempt for the Regents' Test is defined as (1) taking the test and NOT PASSING or (2) NOT TAKING THE TEST!

The test, consisting of a writing exercise and a reading comprehension section, is administered each semester. The date and time will be printed on your registration form when you register.
