There are currently 37 counties in the state of Georgia designated as Appalachian Region counties. While all counties in the area and state can benefit from the Center´s efforts, twenty eight have been targeted because their youth have rates of extremely low postsecondary education, high drop-out, and very low college completion:

‡ Lumpkin is the host county for the Georgia Appalachian Center for Higher Edcuation. GACHE receives its funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission and NGCSU.
