How to Apply for a Federal Student Loan
When a student first prepares to enter college, applying for a federal student loan is a new experience for all those involved.
The first step is to become better educated...
For information about federal student aid from the U.S. Department of Education, visit www.studentaid.ed.gov. The more you read, the better prepared you will be to move forward.
Another excellent site is sponsored by the National Association of Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA). Here you will find info for Parents and Students.
The second step is to apply for a pin and complete the FAFSA. The pin is similar to an electronic signature. Once you receive a pin, hold onto it. You will use it each year to sign your FAFSA as well as other loan related documents.
You will need the NGCSU school code - 001585.
After you have submitted your FAFSA, your FAFSA information will be transmitted electronically to NGCSU. Once your eligibility has been determined, we will notify you via your NGCSU email account.
You can view the status of your financial aid application by logging in to your Banner2000 account and clicking on your "Financial Aid" tab. If you are a new student and need help logging into Banner (or email) for the first time, here are the instructions:
Log in to NGCSU email
Log in to NGCSU Banner
Since each student must be evaluated individually, one at a time, it is important to apply early...
Dates and Deadlines
If you miss a deadline, you can still apply. However, you should be prepared to pay your bill by the time it is due. You can then be reimbursed for any financial aid you are eligible for.
