Registration
Registration is a period of time designated for students to sign up for classes for the
current or upcoming term(s). These periods are listed in the
Registration & Reporting Guide and
Academic Calendar for
the term. Each semester has a pre-registration and registration period.
Current students have the opportunity to pre-register (or register early) for the next
term(s). This pre-registration period for the next term usually occurs shortly after mid-term.
New students or returning students who have not attended NGCSU in more than a year are not eligible to pre-register
for courses at NGCSU. These students must sign up for classes during the defined registration
period.
All registration is done using the Banner Student Information System. Students (who do not have holds
that prevent registration) can register for classes online during their assigned time period.
Instructions are available to describe how to access
the system. Further registration information is available on the
Registrar's site.
Permit to Register
A Permit to Register is generated for each student in his or her academic major's department prior to his or her
registration (or pre-registration) period for a term. Students who are pre-education majors or who
are undecided on a major will have their permit generated in the Academic Advisement Center. The Permit to
Register is to be used as an advisement (or documentation-keeping) tool. Students who have holds on
their record that prevent registration must present a completed permit to register form that
includes the advisor's signature in the Registrar's office in order to register for classes.
Registration Time Tickets
Similar to the Permit to Register, time tickets are given to students to grant access to
online registration in Banner. Time tickets are distributed at least one week prior to the
student's pre-defined registration period.
Instructions are available to students
to view their time ticket.
