International Students

An international student is someone who has not been granted or does not have US citizenship or permanent US residency. In order for these students to study in the US, they must obtain an F-1 or J-1 visa. Students seeking or maintaining an F-1 or J-1 visa must complete the International Student Packet which includes the International Application for Undergraduate Admissions to North Georgia.

Any student who wishes to be an international student at North Georgia must submit the following:

  • International Application Packet if seeking or maintaining F-1 or J-1 visa (others submit online application)

  • $30 non-refundable application fee

  • Official transcripts from every college/university attended (these must come directly from the institution, personal copies and photocopies will NOT be accepted). In order to have your university courses considered for college credit, you must have a credential evaluation agency, send North Georgia a course-by-course evaluation of the transcripts. This is a partial list of credential evaluation agencies that our students have used:

Josef Silney & Associates, Inc. American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers
World Education Services, Inc Global Credential Evaluators

  • Official high school transcripts or, in some countries, Certificate of Education (these must come directly from the school or Ministry of Education in the student's home country, personal copies and photocopies will NOT be accepted). Please refer to the academic requirements page of your home country for specific items needed by selecting the first letter of your country below:

  • English proficiency is proven through TOEFL scores, IELTS scores, SAT/ACT scores, or satisfactory completion of English 1101 at an accredited U.S. college or university. Please review linked list of English proficiency requirements.

    • TOEFL scores or IELTS scores if the student's native language is not English (these must come directly from the testing agency, personal copies and photocopies will NOT be accepted). Please note that TOEFL and IELTS scores are only valid for two calendar years from the test date. SAT or ACT scores will also be accepted if the test is done in the English language. Please note that students graduating from a high school in the U.S. must take the SAT or ACT rather than TOEFL or IELTS.

    • SAT or ACT scores if the student's native language is English (these must come directly from the testing agency, personal copies and photocopies will NOT be accepted). TOEFL and IELTS scores will not be accepted for students whose native language is English.

  • Official bank statements of financial sponsor proving sponsorship of $21,000 USD ($22,000 for Cadets), (these must come directly from the bank or financial institution, personal copies and photocopies will NOT be accepted)

  • North Georgia Certificate of Immunization, showing proof of immunization as required by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia

  • Cadet applicants will be required to meet additional requirements. Please contact the Cadet Recruiting Center for further information, (888) 413-9366 or email cadetrecruiting@ngcsu.edu
