Blue Ridge Rifles excel at national meet
The Blue Ridge Rifles took first place in two events and second in two other events, earning the unit second place overall, at the National Invitational Drill Meet at Auburn University on Jan. 24.

Cadences continue
at North Georgia

Rumors based on a Fall 2008 online student newspaper article about cadences used during physical training by the Corps of Cadets have resulted in irate alumni and general promulgation of misinformation.

USG legislative and budget update

Photo of Georgia State CapitolThe recession is an economic reality impacting citizens, businesses and government services. So, it is no surprise that this year's General Assembly is firmly entrenched in budget matters affecting higher education in Georgia. On Jan. 22, Chancellor Erroll B. Davis Jr. presented and defended the Governor's Fiscal Year 2010 budget recommendations for the University System of Georgia to members of the Georgia General Assembly's Joint Appropriations Committee.

North Georgia student gets inside look at inauguration

Photo of Will Maxwell at the inaugurationWil Maxwell, a North Georgia senior political science student, attended this year's presidential inauguration as a participant in a seminar especially for college students and got an inside look at the media's impact on the presidential campaign, the transition of leadership, and the national and international issues facing the new administration. Maxwell, who had never been to Washington, spent 10 days in the capital city and earned three course credit hours for his participation.
