Kevin Smith, chief marketing officer with Rollins Inc., will be the first of eight senior business leaders to share his expertise with North Georgia students and faculty as part of new initiative by the Mike Cottrell School of Business and the Library-Technology Center. The Cottrell Speaker Series begins Sept. 29.

North Georgia ranks as nation's
top senior military college


Photo of cadetsIn the U.S. Army's just released National Order of Merit List, North Georgia College & State University is the nation's top-performing senior military college. Of the country's 4,702 cadets ranked on this year's list, six North Georgia cadets placed in the top 10 percent. Cadet Jessica Carlock, at number seven on the list, is the top-ranked cadet from North Georgia. The annual list ranks cadets in more than 270 Army ROTC programs.

of Cadets at North Georgia


Photo of Ashlie ShrewsburyAshlie Shrewsbury didn't set out to make history when she entered North Georgia, but she has become the first female leader of school's Corps of Cadets. North Georgia has a long history of providing education and leadership opportunities to women. When the school was founded in 1873, it was the state's first public coeducational institution. Women were part of North Georgia's first graduating class in 1878. And, in 1973, North Georgia became the nation's first senior military college to admit women as part of the Corps of Cadets.
