The Smulian-Thompson Cabin
The Smulian-Thompson cabin is considered to be one of the oldest structures in Lumpkin County. Lived in for generations by the Thompson family, the cabin currently belongs to Jim and Betty Smulian. The Center is working with the Smulians to find the funds to move the cabin to the Vickery House grounds.
Professor Paul Dunlap and his photography students have been documenting the cabin and creating beautiful shots of the cabin and its current site. The Center plans to hold an exhibit of the photographs come fall (2009), serving as a kick-off for the fund-raising drive.
