Tutoring
Part of being an Honors student is learning to be a responsible, community conscious adult. One way the Honors Program encourages its members to become such adults is by getting them involved in tutoring. Groups of Honors students tutor local public school students, as well as their peers at the university. For more information about tutoring, contact the Honors Program director, or Roger Greer of Lumpkin County Schools , at rgreer@lumpkin.k12.ga.us.

Banquets
As a way of getting to know new members to the program, each Fall an Honors Program Banquet is held. The Honors Picnic precedes the Banquet and allows people to get to know one another in a more relaxed setting. There is also a Spring Banquet, held early in the new year.

Trips
Honors students engage in many fun, out of the classroom, activities as part of their learning experience. In the past, students have attended plays at the Shakespeare Tavern in Atlanta, viewed art exhibits at the High Museum, heard the Atlanta Symphony, and gone whitewater rafting.

Honors Day
The Honors Program maintains a significant involvement in the annual NGCSU Honors Day conference. In addition to having many of our students deliber individual research presentations in their major fields, the Honors Program stages the Great Debate as a traditional part of Honors Day activities.

Honores
The Honors Program is home to NGCSU's only in-house, refereed scholarly journal, Honores. This journal only accepts works by NGCSU undergraduates, and is published annually. For more information, visit the Honores web site.
