CRIMINAL JUSTICE INTERNSHIP

Welcome to the central internship page for CRJU 4850.  On this page all the information, forms, deadlines and links to a number of helpful web sites related to the successful completion of your internship can be found.  The information is placed on several headings depending on which stage of the internship process you currently find yourself.  As always, if you have a question, please contact Dr. Downing.

Getting Started

First, if you missed the organizational meeting, you need to review the Powerpoint presentation I presented to those in attendance.  The PP presentation can be found here:  Organizational Meeting PP Presentation.

You also need to review the detailed requirements for the course here: Course Requirements.

You should also look over the Powerpoint presentation given at the academic meeting.  Academic Meeting PP Presentation

NGCSU does prohibit some individuals from performing an internship based on a number of criteria.  Please read the Internship Policy statement.  If you think that you may fall into one of the categories of individuals prohobited from performing and internship. please contact Dr. Downing immediately.

Deadlines and Specifics

These links give specific information on deadlines and requirements for your internship.

First, look over the dates and deadlines for internships this academic year.  The calendar can be found here: 2010 Internship Calendar

Contact numbers and dates can also be found here:  Course Syllabus 2010

Forms and Questions

Once you have reached an agreement with an agency you will need to complete a Contract Request Form   and give it to Dr. Downing.

Once you start your internship, you need to send in weekly reports.  The forms can be downloaded here  Weekly Report Forms.  Be sure to send in a report each week.

Academic Work

You will need to turn in the answers to a number of questions related to your internship.  These questions are connected to the required textbook for the course (Gordon et al).  Do not use the questions at the end of each chapter in the text.  Instead, use these questions:  Click here.

When you turn in all your academic work, you must also turn in an evaluation of the agency your worked for.  This is your opinion of the agency: Form for Evaluating Intern Agency
