MISSION:

NGCSU Military Science Department trains all-service, southeast JROTC battalion cadet command groups (battalion commander, XO, S3, CSM) at NGCSU and Pine Valley on leadership and team building tasks that are designed to prepare cadet battalion command groups to lead their battalions during subsequent school year.

OBJECTIVES (1)  Learn and practice leadership skills (2)  Enhance command group relationships through participation in team-building events (3)  Develop and apply time management skills; learn staff organization and responsibilities; learn decision-making skills and develop a formal briefing (4)  Take back JROTC event calendars, Army FMs and Cadet Command JROTC Regulations on disk

North Georgia College & State University, nationally recognized for its leadership development programs, has designed a J-LEAD program that will provide you with a chance to push yourself to new limits and accomplish feats you never dreamed possible.

We want to give you and your fellow command group officers the opportunity to test your minds and bodies, and to discover the leader within!

J-LEAD will push you to your limits - mentally and physically. We will evaluate your group on how well you accomplish problem-solving and team-building activities. As you maneuver through obstacle courses and solve problems, you will learn to trust your teammates in a way you've never counted on or trusted anyone before.

All schools must have a four-person team.

The fee is $100 per JROTC cadet or $400 per team and is due by and may not be refunded after 09 July 2010. Make check payable to "JLEAD". Coordinate with MSG (R) Allen, 706 864-1599 or srallen@ngcsu.edu, if an extension for payment is required.

Cadets who attend must be in the top 10% of their JROTC program, preferably the JROTC commander, executive officer, operations officer and a senior enlisted representative. Cadets must be college-bound with a 2.5 GPA and 920 SAT/19 ACT or better.

We accept teams from Army, Navy, Air Force or Marine JROTC programs.

JROTC Instructor Involvement

* Your cadets may travel to and from JLEAD on their own. It is not necessary for you to transport them, unless you want to do so. On-campus parking is available for you and your cadets.

* It is not necessary for you to help run JLEAD. However, if you would like to help, please contact MSG (R) Sean Allen at srallen@ngcsu.edu.

* If you are bringing your cadets and wish to help run JLEAD, we have a room for you - free of charge. If you are not helping run JLEAD and wish to remain in Dahlonega for the duration of JLEAD, please make your own hotel arrangements.

* If you are under 18 years of age, your parent or guardian must sign the medical release form.

** Students who are under 16 years of age, and/or use prescription medications for asthma must coordinate with MSG (Ret.) Allen for a waiver in order to participate in J-LEAD.

*** SAI's please send your students' names to MSG (Ret.) Allen as soon as they are identified. We need all names, and/or application no later than the first week of June.
