bandOriginally founded in 1873, The Golden Eagle Band has been performing on campus and throughout the community for over one hundred years. This distinguished military band was officially given its present title in 1972. Prior to this date, the unit was known as the Tigers. While traditionally comprised primarily of musically gifted members of the Corps of Cadets, the Golden Eagle Band is also a unique outlet through which civilian students may perform. As a result of their century of musical excellence, the Golden Eagles have earned countless number of coveted awards for performance rendered in a broad spectrum of events throughout the Southeast. One of the most notable of these events is the band's annual participation in the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in Savannah, Georgia. The principal and unwavering function of the band; however, is to provide the musical backbone for the Corps’ drill and ceremony.

bandTwo of the major contributors to the Golden Eagle Band's success are the unit's strong sense of cohesion and its respect for tradition. The freshmen bandsmen, referred to as fledglings, steadily evolve into Golden Eagles first by earning the Golden Eagle Band Patch and then through bonding together into the Brotherhood of the Cord.
