Current Events

 Fall Social

           Our Fall Social will be held on November 5, 2004 and will be a chance for current members and alumni to meet and reunite with English Faculty and new initiates. We will partake of hors-d'oeuvres, coffees, and desserts while playing various games with a literary twist. Following the Social will be our initiation for this semester with many new members added to our society.

Leadership Workshops

        The Leadership Workshops will be conducted at the Lumpkin County Public Library and will involve both the local Middle and High Schools. Students will participate in reading passages from biographies and fiction where the characters portray leadership qualities. The students will then brainstorm about these qualities and how they apply to each individual. It is our goal to promote reading and writing skills as essential to leadership in the way each student communicates with his or her peers and elders.

Literary Festival

        This year's Literary Festival will be the second annual, and we hope to help make it as big a success as it was last year. We will be collaborating with Dr. Corrigan and NGCSU as well as Quigley's Rare Book Store on the Square. This will be a chance to meet many authors and poets who have come to experience the Festival and to make valuable contacts for the future.
