Cognition Lab Students Share Technology Ideas at ADCLI 2007

Just tooting our own horn.... Several Cognition and Gerotechnology Lab students went down to the Apple Digital Campus Leadership Institute (ADCLI) this spring and shared two of the projects that we are working on that integrate their life as students today with our current technology.

Hanna Stepp and Courtney Winterbottom presented our departmental approach to academic advising using enhanced podcasts. Katie Scoglietti and Christopher Hilton shared how we develop information literacy skills (and learn more about cognition) by demonstrating and explaining our social bookmarking project for Cognition (PSYC 3310).

In addition, they all made a presentation and participated in a question and answer session at the conference. You can download a podcast of their session here. Just subscribe to the day one podcasts. There session is entitled, "What can they do and what do they want?" The slides that they used in their presentation are available for download here. NGCSU Psych Students attend Appalachian IDEAS Network

Here's a nice photo of me with Billy Breedlove and Vicki Herrin (left to right). We recently attend the Appalachian IDEAS Network were we pitched our social venture at the 3rd annual showcase. Vicki and Billy presented the Psi Chi Foodbank project.  A novel approach to solving our local probelms locally. Psi Chi students have been selling some of the items donated to the Community Helping Place thrift store on eBay... the idea being that some items are more valuable than what they would be able to fetch in the thrift store. The money is then used to purchase foodbank items in bulk. You can always know what we are selling locally (no shipping fees if you pick it up) by reading our our RSS feed... or make the communityhelpinng place one of your favorite sellers and check it when you log into your eBay account.

Thanks to all the Psi Chi students that have been working on this project. See me if you want to help.
