The Master's Program in Secondary English Education is specifically designed to help teachers of English literature and composition improve their teaching skills and add depth and breadth to their knowledge of the discipline of English. The program consists of ten courses: three courses in the Education Department and seven courses in the Department of English. Specifically, the student will take EDUC 6001, EDUC 6002, and EDUC 6004, as well as ENGL 6901 and ENGL 7990. The remaining five courses are English electives—chosen by the student with the advice of his or her graduate advisor—carrying an ENGL prefix and taken at the 6000- or 7000-level, and may include literature courses, writing courses, or a mixture of both.
For more information about the program, or to speak with the graduate advisor in English, please contact the Department of English at (706)864-1775.
